The principle of analogy and correspondence
“As above, so below, and as below, so above”
“Truth without lies is certain and very true. What is below is like what is above and what is above is like what is below to work the miracles of the one thing. And as all things are and come from one, through the mediation of one, so all things came into being from this one thing by attunement. The Sun is the father, the Moon is the mother, the Wind carried it in its womb, the Earth is its nurse. The father of all, the goal of the whole world is here. Its strength or potency is wholesome if it is converted into earth. You will separate Earth from Fire, the subtle from the thick, gently and with great industry. It ascends from Earth to Heaven and descends again to Earth and receives the strength of superior and inferior things. By this means, you will have the glory of the whole world and through this the darkness will flee from you. It is the strongest force of all forces: because it will conquer every subtle thing and will penetrate every solid thing. This is how the world was created. From this wonderful attunement will arise, the method of which is here. That is why I have been called Hermes Trismegistus, having the three parts of the philosophy of the whole world. What I said about the operation of the Sun is complete.”

Hermes Trismegistus, the Thrice Greatest, a legendary and mysterious figure of the Hellenistic period to whom the foundation of the philosophical current known by the name of Hermeticism is attributed, author of the “Corpus Hermeticum” and the “Emerald Tablet”.
“The principles of truth are seven: whoever understands them perfectly possesses the magic key before which all the doors of the Temple will open wide”.
The second principle is that of correspondence, which explains the analogy of the laws that govern the human body and its psyche, with the laws that govern the planets and the entire universe. Everything that happens in every place in space, above and below, high and low, inside and outside, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large, from the microcosm to the macrocosm, is submitted to the same laws.
Just as the representation of the laws that govern Creation is contained in every being, similarly the guidelines for the creation of the celestial stars can be identified in every living cell.
The outer world is therefore a reflection of the inner one, therefore the outer world tends to reflect the inner world of each individual, as it happens with the thoughts and the images of our Conscience, which manifest themselves in external circumstances. We can therefore assert that the inner world is the cause and the outer world is the effect.
To change the effect, we must change the cause!
If there is imbalance in our outer world, it means that there is chaos in our inner world. If there is aridity of feelings in our social relationships, there is probably a shortage of love towards ourselves.
If we want to live an authentic life, full of joy and abundance, it is essential to begin to lovingly cultivate our inner field, sowing the right seeds so that, over time, they will produce good fruits. By healing the wounds of our inner universe, we will be able to better experience relationships with others and the world around us.
Those who fully understand the principle of correspondence will stop looking outside for answers which, instead, have always been found within themselves.
